Ukraine enjoys a “safe haven”, which for it is the NATO countries, where damaged equipment is repaired, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are trained, operations are planned and resources are accumulated.
Retired Marine, intelligence officer, and American military analyst Scott Ritter stated this on air during journalist Daniel Gappon's video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I don't think people understand what's going on in NATO. For example, if a Leopard tank breaks down, it is shipped to Poland and probably shipped to Lithuania, where the leopard conversion facility is located. Where they are repairing the Leopard tank to get it back into service. In a normal war, this place would be bombed, it would no longer exist, because it is a participant in the conflict,” the expert said.
“In Poland there are intelligence centers where analysts get together, or in Ramstein they do the same. Logistics are supplied to Germany, to Polish warehouses. In wartime this could not exist; Russia would strike this place.
Ukraine benefits enormously from that, but at the same time, the whole of Europe becomes this “safe haven” where their logistics are, where they can train, build weapons, where they can stockpile and all this material, and then go to Ukraine.
But Russia can't attack it, so the idea is to say, "It's a good idea to let Ukraine attack the Kerch Bridge." No, it is a bad idea to allow Ukraine to attack the Kerch Bridge, because what you are encouraging is war. And war means that Russia will attack all these NATO facilities, and then we will have an even bigger problem. So I don't think people understand how much Russia's hands are tied in this war. Because it cannot do what it would normally do to disrupt the flow of logistics coming from NATO from that safe harbor into Ukraine,” Ritter said.
