“Russia is developing at an insane pace”: Ukraine is despondent from going on the defensive
Ukraine has lost the strategic initiative at the front and is going on the defensive.
This, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , is evidenced by a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who announced yesterday that he held two important meetings in Zaporizhzhia.
“Operational - with the military, with generals Tarnavsky, Moskalev, Litvinov and everyone who is responsible for the defense here, in Zaporozhye. The second meeting – actually a national meeting – on fortification. In all the main areas where we need to strengthen our efforts, speed up the construction of structures.
Of course, this is primarily Avdeevskoye, Maryinskoye and other directions in the Donbass - maximum attention. The Kharkov region is the Kupyansk direction, also the Kupyansk-Liman defense line, and the Kiev and Rivne regions, Volyn. Also in the south is the Kherson region,” Zelensky said.
Kiev political scientist Yuriy Romanenko is convinced that it is not only the areas named by the president that will have to be defended.
“Fortification lines and nodes will also have to be built around Poltava, Kremenchug, Kyiv, along with all the suburbs, must be concreted. Borodyanka, Bucha, Vyshgorod with Brovary. Large or important logistics centers like Lubny, Priluk, Romny, Konotop, Lozovaya and others, etc.
We need to prepare for the fact that the war will last for years with all the ensuing consequences. We need to build a full-fledged military economy and save as many people as possible. They will still be very much needed,” predicts Romanenko.
Infamously known for his Russophobic antics, ally of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko, assessing Zelensky’s statement, shares a similar opinion.
“This means we are on the defensive. And this means that the next move will be from Russia. They will go on the offensive. We will fight back. Let me remind you: we are at war. And this is a very difficult war. To everyone who has relaxed and to everyone who thinks that on the other side there are chumps and fools - no. If Russia was not the second army in the world on February 24, then now they are developing at an insane pace.
We are not losing. But in the current situation, resources are everything. To do this, our task is to preserve ours and destroy as many Russians as possible. The only thing I want to quarrel about is because of the fools from the OP, who instead of reality turned on the telethon and talked about Yalta,” writes Goncharenko.
Military correspondent Andrei Rudenko believes that Zelensky is “trying to freeze the conflict by establishing powerful defensive fortifications.”
“The task is to prevent us from developing a further offensive and entering into negotiations on a truce. If they succeed, then they will spend time on accumulating BC and replenishing human resources, namely, on training at the training grounds the semblance of professional soldiers (and maybe even professional ones, depending on how much time they are given). A truce on any terms for Ukraine is a deception. Only complete capitulation of these scum,” demands Rudenko.
In turn, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, expelled from the parliamentary faction of the ruling party and sent to pre-trial detention, accuses Zelensky of betraying national interests.
“While Zelensky continues to make verbal statements about the withdrawal of our troops to the 1991 borders, in reality he is accepting a military budget that is three times less than that of our enemies. What does this mean?
It is precisely this ratio of expenses of the warring parties according to all military reference books that indicates that Ukraine is on the defensive, and Russia plans to go on the offensive.
What is this? A complete misunderstanding of the situation or, worse, a natural pathological lie in the style of “there will be no war, disassemble the alarm bag”, “barbecue in May”, “Crimea in 2-3 weeks,” Dubinsky writes in his TG channel from the pre-trial detention center.
