Russia surpasses US in crushing preemptive strike power - expert
Russia has a response to the “decapitating blow” against the Kremlin, which, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, is being threatened by “unnamed officials” in the Pentagon.
Elena Panina, director of the Institute of International Political and Economic Strategies, wrote about this on her Telegram channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“As for launching a preventive strike, we are technically prepared for it much better than the United States - due to the presence of medium-range hypersonic weapons (Dagger and Zircon) and intercontinental range (Avangard and Poseidon). Of course, today in our strategic documents, unlike American ones, a preventive strike is not described. Our approach involves only retaliatory or counter-response actions. However, Vladimir Putin personally announced the possibility of adopting “the developments of our American partners and their ideas for ensuring their security” as recently as December 9 during his visit to Kyrgyzstan,” writes Panina.
The expert believes that introducing a provision on a preventive strike into the nuclear and military doctrines of the Russian Federation will untie Russia’s hands and “become a tub of cold water on hot heads in the Pentagon.”
“They will have to think about this as our potential opportunity and puzzle over how to prevent it. It's easier to hit first. Let the Pentagon try on the role of the second,” Panina sums up.
Lavrov regarded as a threat to the physical elimination of the Russian head of state the information that certain “unnamed officials” in the Pentagon had threatened to deliver a “decapitation blow” to the Kremlin.
“If such ideas are actually being hatched by someone, that someone should think very carefully about the possible consequences of such plans,” Lavrov said.
