Russia and the West faced off at summits in The Hague

Kyiv - Paris, March 24 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - The world summit on nuclear security opens in The Hague, “on the sidelines” of which the head of the GXNUMX will take place, where Russia was pointedly not invited, the French press reports. Meanwhile, Russia itself held an “alternative” summit, initiating a meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

In the evening, G7 leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Ukraine and, in particular, Vladimir Putin’s possible plans to “develop” other regions of Ukraine, since Kyiv previously expressed concern about the Russian invasion of the East, the main industrial region of the country.

The Ukrainian interim government fears that Vladimir Putin and his “territorial appetites” are reliably covered by military force and a lack of fear of the West, since the European Union and the United States have limited themselves to only superficial sanctions against Moscow.

However, a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry is expected in The Hague. The main topic of discussion, naturally, will be Ukraine. At the same time, interim Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that he would not go to The Hague, because does not want to negotiate with the IMF mission regarding the assistance program for Ukraine.
