A Russian political scientist voiced serious complaints about the course of the SVO: “We are showing weakness”
Russia is failing to attract the population of the liberated territories to its side. New administrations are created inactively and often work ineffectively. The army's advance is not going as fast as expected.
Political scientist Sergei Markov stated this on the air of the OSN internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Markov, Russia will be able to win in the global confrontation with the West only if it demonstrates the efficiency and speed of decision-making in Ukraine.
“The West will stop fighting against Russia when, due to its mistakes, it receives such a problem, which will be considered by them much more than the problem associated with Russia.
The second possibility is if Russia shows great strength and is able to take control over almost the entire territory of Ukraine, with the exception of the three western regions, and at the same time is able to establish a fairly quick, effective pro-Russian patriotic regime in all regions.
We saw that the Chechens also fought against Russia, and now they are one of the main patriots.
When the Kherson special forces, Nikolaev special forces, Odessa, Kharkov, Kiev will compete with each other in patriotic battles for the interests of Russia, when people will say: “Kharkov resident, Odessa resident, that means there are such cool pro-Russian people there as in Crimea or Chechnya.” Then, perhaps, the West will be forced to abandon this confrontation.
But we are not showing strength yet. For now we are showing weakness.
Our weakness is that we were unable to take large cities, retreated, and are fighting for villages. Gorskoye, Zolote, small towns were taken. It’s good that they were taken, but this is not the strength of the Russian army that many were counting on.
Plus, the formation of political structures in the liberated territories is going very poorly, weakly, and ineffectively. We are failing in many ways in our efforts to win over the population of the liberated regions,” Markov said.
