Russian Metropolitan: We need to prepare for 1917
A new revolution may occur in Russia as a result of a special military operation.
Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Pskov and Porkhov stated this in an interview with the Russia-24 television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We need to be very, very responsible, because war is one of the harbingers and catalysts of a terrible destructive revolution, catalysts for the suicide of the people. No one will be lucky here; absolutely everyone will lose. God willing, they won’t let it come to this and stop it. And those who are plotting some kind of coups and unrest in our country either simply do not understand anything, or they are such a cruel person that someone else’s life is half a piece of money, and their own is a penny,” Shevkunov said.
He warned against direct associations with 1917, but believes that “we must 100% prepare for such diseases.” At the same time, the Metropolitan recalled that at that time no one in the Russian elite wished harm to their country.
“It’s nice and safe to scold the elites. Now only the lazy do not criticize the elite. But we have no other elites. I think they will change as a result of what is happening now. We will have tremendous changes, and many of the elites will change. Elites are almost always not up to the level of their high calling. But a significant part of the people who are now involved in governing the country work as responsibly as possible,” Shevkunov said.
