Sevastopol, August 06 (Navigator, Viktor Orlov) – Russian sailors in Crimea complain to deputies about the worsening conditions after the peninsula joined the Russian Federation.

Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, specifying that the day before there was a meeting of parliamentarians with the military, where they announced the abolition of “foreign” allowances for military personnel in Crimea.

“Parliamentarians had to listen to numerous complaints from sailors about the difficulties their families faced after the annexation of Crimea to Russia. The material and financial support of military personnel has deteriorated sharply. Difficulties have arisen with rented housing, the cost of which in Sevastopol today exceeds the amount of payments to sailors by four to five times. As you know, now compensation for renting housing for military personnel of the Black Sea Fleet is only 3600 rubles. – as throughout all of Russia, except for two capital cities. Meanwhile, the market rent for a standard, small-sized, two-room apartment with minimal amenities in the hero city is 15 thousand. This is not God knows what kind of housing, built back in the 70s. For 3600 you can rent only a small room in a communal apartment - with one toilet for five or six families,” the publication says.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee Dmitry Gorovtsov told the newspaper that in September the State Duma will quickly solve this problem - through amendments to the laws on military service and the budget. It was decided to equate the Crimean military contingent with the capital ones - Moscow and St. Petersburg.
