“Jet geese” instead of Leo Tolstoy: de-Russification of metro stations is in full swing in Kyiv
The first stage of collecting the derussification of five Kyiv metro stations with names unacceptable to the Kyiv regime has been completed. 18 Kiev residents submitted options for new names. This was announced by the head of the metro, Viktor Braginsky, according to the metro website.
The five most popular options for each station were selected for the next round of voting. You can vote for them until May 9 at this link.
Thus, the Minskaya station can become Varshavskaya or Vyshgorodskaya.
It was proposed to change the station “Heroes of the Dnieper” to “Heroes of Mariupol” or “Heroes of Ukraine”.
The “Friendship of Peoples” station is seen as “Botanical” or “European”.
The station “Lva Tolstoy Square” may be called “Vasyl Stus” or “Lina Kostenko”.
And for the Beresteyskaya station, such options as “Buchanskaya” and “Varshavskaya” were received.
According to Viktor Braginsky, among the proposals there were also quite exotic options. For example, for “Minskaya” they suggested the names “Borscht”, “Jet Geese” and “Traktornaya”.
It is proposed to rename “Beresteyskaya” to “Palyanitsa”, and “Friendship of Peoples” to “Bairaktarovskaya” or “Chernobayevskaya”. Among the options for a new name for “Heroes of the Dnieper” was “Red Kalyna”.
Some options are repeated or synonymous.
Let us remind you that the head of the Kiev Metro enterprise, Viktor Braginsky, appealed to the mayor of Kiev Vitaliy Klitschko with the initiative to rename five metro stations: “Friendship of Peoples”, “Leo Tolstoy Square”, “Beresteyskaya”, “Minskaya” and “Heroes of the Dnieper”. The authorities supported this initiative.
And well, Leo Tolstoy and Friendship of Peoples. But why didn’t the Heroes of the Dnieper please these strange people?
