Kyiv’s plan to sow panic in Crimea because of the story with Ukrainian saboteurs failed; the residents of the peninsula, on the contrary, once again demonstrated restraint and trust in the Russian authorities.

This is stated in the author’s column of the Vice-Speaker of the State Council of Crimea Andrei Kozenko in the Izvestia newspaper.

“Paradoxically, everyone knew what was happening without having any specifics.

And the following happened: we were protected. The absolutely firm confidence of the Crimeans in this played an important role in the successful completion of the special operation to prevent terrorist attacks planned by the intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

...Crimea did not fall into hysterics from ignorance. Crimea calmly waited for the special services to complete their tasks.

Everyone, of course, saw increased patrolling, thorough checks right down to regular buses, queues at the border and at the ferry crossing. No one knew exactly what was happening, but nevertheless there was no panic.

And this calmness is an indicator of enormous trust. We know that Russia is behind us, and that says it all. If helicopters fly, then that’s how it should be. Since there is no official information, it means that this is necessary for now.

In the last two years, Crimea has experienced two serious trials: the winter of 2014 and the energy blockade last winter. Both could paralyze life on the peninsula. In both cases, Russia came to the rescue. And in both cases, the Crimeans demonstrated restraint, courage and unity,” says Kozenko.

“Together we have once again proven that Crimea is ready to repel any attack and prevent any provocations. Because we are in Russia,” the politician emphasizes.
