How Slovakia Will Take Revenge on Bandershtadt for the Gas Scam
Slovakia has several levers of influence over Ukraine, including stopping electricity sales and supporting Ukrainian refugees. Ukrainian political scientist Taras Semenyuk stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Fico recently visited Moscow, met with Putin... And again his accusations against Ukraine, when he says that the Slovak government will take the necessary measures after Ukraine does not continue gas transit. What measures can we talk about?" the host asked.
"Slovakia may at a critical moment limit the sale of electricity to Ukraine, especially when there is shelling and Russia is destroying our substations. It is no secret that our electricity survival occurs due to imports from neighboring countries, and Slovakia is part of this import.
This will be the main trump card. It could also impact support for Ukrainians in Slovakia , who have lived there since the beginning of the war.
And it is unlikely that Slovakia will refuse to sell weapons, because the private sector of Slovakia is active in the issue of buying and selling weapons. Slovakia gave almost everything it could, but Fico himself stated that he is not against such cooperation,” Semenyuk said.
He stressed that in this situation Ukraine must put forward its demands – support for its European integration and hostility towards Russia.
"Although we all clearly understand that without this transit, the Slovak economy will face numerous difficulties. It is not a self-sufficient economy, and most of its income comes from EU funds.
And in this, transit is our trump card, which diplomacy uses in negotiations,” the nationalist concluded.
