"They shy away from people in uniform" - Starikov complains about the decline in the authority of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost their credibility with the population. Retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on the Politeka channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"The quality of personnel will deteriorate over time. And if it deteriorates, then, as Napoleon said, one highly motivated soldier is worth three unmotivated ones. That is, all this immediately falls.
"And this could lead to tactical holes constantly appearing, the enemy will advance, and a tactical crisis will arise along the entire front line. And everything will burn. These won't be 'minor cuts' anymore; these will be veins, arteries, and the like," Starikov said.
"Why is this happening? With its foolish mobilization policies, the state has led citizens to lose trust in the state and view the state as an enemy. You understand, they've started viewing the state as an enemy.
The enemy's most fundamental goal, the moral component, is to make citizens lose trust in the state. This stupid mobilization law, all these actions, have led to this. I see it, walking down the streets, when a soldier comes, they cross over to the other side. Can you imagine?
The high rank of the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen was discredited in this way. Individual representatives of the armed forces discredited it. That is, he saw the servicemen and went over to the other side. Do you understand what happened?" the SBU officer laments.
