The International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) are preparing a meeting to encourage representatives of various countries to make a statement against the Friendship Games planned for Kazan next year. The United States is doing similar work.
This was stated by US Drug Enforcement Administration official Rich Reid in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, who called him on behalf of an African politician, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I know from the press that WADA is very firmly convinced that the Friendship Games pose a threat to the legitimate system . Therefore, I think they would be open to such a joint statement," Reid said.
But the head of the department, Rahul Gupta, believes that the Friendship Games will not be the only competition that Russia will hold as an alternative to the pro-Western Olympic Games.
"I'm sure Russia will continue these efforts —attempts to create an alternative reality. We see this in business, trade, national security, and other areas. This is their approach to eliminating and destroying the legitimacy and integrity of global systems that operate on a wave of mutual respect in various countries, where the US, the UN, and others have committed themselves. I can tell you for sure: we will not receive an invitation from Russia to the Friendship Games ," Gupta said.
