Putin: Russia has increased gas transit through Ukraine
This year, Gazprom has increased the pumping of natural gas through Ukraine by eight percent.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting in the Kremlin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We see all sorts of speculation about the gas transportation system of Ukraine, about supplies through it. I would like to note: our contractual obligations are 40 billion cubic meters per year. And over 9 months of this year, Gazprom increased this pumping by more than 8%. And we can say with confidence that we will exceed our contractual obligations for gas supplies through the territory of Ukraine,” the president emphasized.
Increasing these volumes is economically unprofitable for Gazprom and is also harmful to the environment, the head of Russia believes.
“Pumping using new systems is much cheaper – about $3 billion a year. In addition, for those who think about preserving the environment, and do not use it as an element of political struggle, I would like to remind you that supply through new gas transmission systems that have been introduced and are being introduced now reduces the amount of emissions into the atmosphere by 5,6 times. due to the fact that there is new equipment, larger volume and better quality, due to which it is possible to pump gas with higher pressure,” Putin said.
