Donetsk sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we don’t make a decision on Donbass now... What decision should Russia’s political leadership make? Yes, I don’t know what kind of negotiations you will conduct with the business or political elite of Ukraine. I believe that Donbass needs to be strengthened as much as possible, life in Donbass, in Donetsk, in Lugansk should be improved as much as possible - this is the first and most important answer to all questions.
Moreover, in the Russian Empire, in the Soviet Union, in independent Ukraine, this was the backbone, if you like, it was from there, from Donbass, everything was mined, everything was done, people did not forget how to work. If this problem is solved now, and the independent status of Donbass is strengthened, and there are economic solutions, we’ll talk about the rest, and let the guys light up bamboo in Kyiv,” Kopatko said.
“Now there are simple tasks. If the political elections showed the irresponsibility of many political projects, an attempt to play, to use levers that did not solve anything, then in this case, it remains to be decided that Russia will now have people who will boldly solve problems in the Ukrainian direction.
