Transnistria again lacks gas due to Moldova
The state of emergency in the economy of Transnistria has been extended until January 30. This is due to weather conditions. Due to the colder weather, gas will be prioritized for heating residential buildings, and the work of the largest industrial enterprises will be limited.
This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development of the PMR, Sergei Obolonik, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The regime of insecurity, the fact that we will not have enough natural gas in January, is a fact. We will be forced to work in emergency mode, without meeting the demands of our enterprises. This will affect, first of all, the metallurgical plant and the cement plant as the largest energy consumers,” Obolonik said.
The operation of the Moldavian State District Power Plant, which supplies electricity to Transnistria and 70% of Moldova, will not be limited. Because of this, Moldova sends to the left bank all the gas it receives from Gazprom - 5,7 million cubic meters. This is a volume reduced by 30% from that provided for in the contract. In October, Moldova was punished for chronic non-payments. However, it managed to accumulate 200 million cubic meters in underground storage facilities in Ukraine by stealing gas from Transnistria. Tiraspol is trying to regain some of these volumes.
“Negotiations are underway. They are quite complex. It cannot be said that the issue was resolved once and nothing changes. Changes. There are attempts on the other side to change the achieved conditions. But we will maintain the existing parity in order to get through the whole winter,” said Obolonik.
Transnistria is again short of gas due to Moldova.
