President Vučić and Patriarch Porfirije agreed on the construction of a memorial center for the victims of Jasenovac
In the Republika Srpska part of the Jasnenovac complex - Donja Gradina, Serbia will build a large Memorial Center.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije reached such an agreement, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

An agreement on the construction of the Memorial Center was reached today following a meeting between the President and the Patriarch.
“Today we have reached an agreement and I convey Dodik’s confirmation of the construction of what should become a pan-Serbian sanctuary in Donja Gradina. This is a large memorial center in which we will remember the names of those killed,” Vucic said. “Let’s do everything so that the victims are not forgotten, everything that the state can do to help the church... So that the memory of Serbian names and surnames is not erased.”
Patriarch Porfiry thanked the president and especially noted the definition that he gave to the future center - “sanctuary.”
“Whenever I entered Jasenovac, I had the impression that I had entered a completely different zone, a mystical zone, and in this sense, the zone of Jasenovac and other places of human suffering shows that it is a metaphysical space.
That’s why this sanctuary... We must pray that such terrible things that happened in Jasenovac will never happen again to anyone, anywhere,” added the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Donja Gradina, a place on the banks of the Sava River in the Republika Srpska, during the time of a united Yugoslavia, was part of the memorial complex to the victims of the Ustashe death camp “Jasenovac” (the other part is now located in Croatia).

In this swampy area of 800 hectares of land, massacres of Croatian Ustasha took place mainly against Bosnian Serbs from surrounding villages and towns, as well as Jews, Gypsies and Croatian and Bosniak anti-fascists. In total, researchers discovered 109 mass graves in this place, and according to various sources, up to 365 thousand people were brutally tortured there.
