The Serbian President is ready to resign in order not to accept the West's ultimatum on Kosovo
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he is considering the option of resigning, as this will allow Serbia to gain time in the face of strong pressure exerted by the West on the Kosovo issue, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Speaking on the evening of October 20 on the Prva TV channel, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted: he is not saying that he will resign soon, but this option should also be considered.
According to Vucic, as a last resort, he is ready to risk his career for the sake of peace and stability of his country.
“This is not an escape from responsibility. I may consider resigning for the sake of the state to buy time to find a solution. But at the moment I don’t see him,” said the Serbian leader.
He noted that the West needs to resolve the Kosovo problem as soon as possible in order to eliminate the precedent cited by Russia.
“This will give Serbia six to nine months. I wouldn’t be able to run again, but I would buy time for our country to save it,” said Aleksandar Vucic.
Here he implies that before the election of a new president of Serbia, there will be no one to sign a document recognizing the independence of the “Republic of Kosovo” proclaimed by the Albanian separatists (according to the Constitution of Serbia and UN Security Council Resolution 1244 - the Serbian Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija).
