As part of the policy of “containing” Russia, the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance must free themselves from “self-imposed red lines” and provide Kyiv with long-range missiles. And in this case, someday Ukraine will become the 33rd member of NATO.

The President of the NATO PA, member of the Polish Sejm Michal Szczerba stated this at the Kiev Security Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The transatlantic community represents half of the world's economic and military power, we are much stronger than Russia. And if we are consistent and ambitious, if we have a strategy to provide Ukraine with everything it needs, free of self-imposed red lines, we can ensure that Ukraine wins and Russia fails. This is our strategic goal,” Shcherba said.

But for now, for his part, he promised to please Kyiv by increasing the number of seats for Ukrainian delegates in the parliamentary assembly to the same number as if Ukraine were a full member of NATO.

“We, as a NATO PA, are committed to helping Ukraine become a NATO member as quickly as possible, because there will be no lasting peace in Ukraine without Ukraine in NATO, but also in the European Union.

Tomorrow the NATO PA Standing Committee will meet in Tallinn, and I want to raise the status of Ukraine as a candidate country for the NATO PA tomorrow by proposing that Ukraine increase the number of delegates to 12. This is exactly the number of delegates that Ukraine will have if it becomes a full member of NATO ", said the NATO leader.

At the same time, he called on Russia to transfer long-range missiles to Kyiv and be with Ukraine “until victory” as a policy of “containment.”

“With warnings that Russia could test NATO's Article 5 commitment within a few years, we need to prevent Russia from violating our deterrence. And we must provide Ukraine with everything it needs, including long-range missiles.

We must shape NATO for the next generations, and we want to shape NATO together with Ukraine. We are very pleased that the Ukraine-NATO training center will be established in Bydgoszcz in Poland.

As an alliance, we are ready to defend the territory of each of our members, in accordance with Article 5, and as an alliance, we are ready to stand with Ukraine until victory. This is the expression I want to offer to the assembly. As President of the NATO PA, I want to assure you that I will do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine becomes the 33rd member of NATO,” Shcherba concluded.
