The President of Germany told Mogilyanka students behind closed doors about the main threats to Ukraine
President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is on a visit to Kyiv today, spoke to students of the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

As part of the ensuing discussion, the President of Germany told students about his vision of the main threats to the future of Ukraine. These, according to the German politician, are “corruption and aggressive nationalism.”
Speaking about Ukrainian nationalism, the President of Germany criticized its “aggressive and isolationist nature,” emphasizing that the EU strongly opposes such phenomena.
At the same time, Steinmeier noted that corruption and nationalism are also encountered in Western countries.
“But Ukraine also has to fight both phenomena, and both - corruption and nationalism - can threaten in different ways what was won with great sacrifice on the Maidan,” Steinmeier said.
The German President also recalled that the effective fight against corruption is an indicator and the main condition for receiving financial assistance from the EU and the IMF.
It is interesting that Steinmeier’s meeting with Mogilyanka students took place behind closed doors. The announcement on the university website indicated that the event was open “only to the NAUKMA community” and registration for participation in it would be carried out on a first come first served basis.
