The Ukrainian government has decided to strangle low-income citizens
The budget resolution announced by the Ukrainian government does not provide for improving social standards for citizens.
Economist Viktor Skarshevsky announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There are no plans to improve social standards. The fact that it is written there about increasing the cost of living by the level of inflation means that the government is not at all interested in low-income people. The cost of living will be, as it is now, only 40% of the actual cost of living, calculated by the same Ministry of Social Policy,” the economist said.
He noted that currently the official cost of living in Ukraine is 1700 hryvnia, while the actual level is more than four thousand hryvnia.
“And this will be multiplied by the inflation rate. What does this mean? That the minimum pension, which is tied to the subsistence level, will also not increase. All social standards are tied to the living wage. This means that the government refuses to fulfill its direct functions of protecting the poor,” Skarshevsky summed up.
