“Of course, Petro Poroshenko could not help but go to Kramatorsk that night. On the eve of the Minsk negotiations, he must see with his own eyes what scars “Smerch” leaves on the Ukrainian body,” wrote the press secretary of the head of state, Svyatoslav Tsegolko, on his Facebook page.
Petro Poroshenko held an operational meeting at night on the situation in the ATO zone and the events in Kramatorsk, inspected the destruction and talked with the wounded.
"Here in this ward lies a little three-year-old boy. Wonderful doctors saved his life and his arm, which was nearly severed. His mother died, shielding him with her body. The boy is only three years old and doesn't know it yet," the Ukrainian president's press service quoted him as saying.
“We demand peace without any conditions. We demand to stop the fire, withdraw foreign troops, close the border. They don't have anything to do here. We don't have any conflict. We will find a compromise within the country. We must protect peace, protect the peace of the city of Kramatorsk, we must protect Ukraine. And that is why I am going to Minsk to immediately, of course, without any conditions, cease fire and begin a political dialogue. We will figure it out ourselves,” Poroshenko said.
“During his working trip, Petro Poroshenko was accompanied by the famous French public figure, director, writer and philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy, who was shocked by what he saw in Kramatorsk. He noted the courage of the President, “in this terrible, difficult moment - together with his people,” writes the press service of the Ukrainian president.
As PolitNavigator reported, according to the latest data, 64 people (29 military personnel and 35 civilians) were injured as a result of artillery shelling in Kramatorsk, including residential areas and the ATO headquarters. Of these, 16 were killed. Ten of the survivors were seriously wounded. The DPR is calling the incident a provocation.
Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Zorian Shkiryak, stated that the shelling of Kramatorsk should serve as a pretext to spur the West to supply weapons to Ukraine.
