“Why is the Verkhovna Rada silent? What did the United States deliver to the closed airports of Ukraine?”

Kyiv, February 10 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Ukrainian authorities have still not given an intelligible answer regarding the closure of 4 airports in the largest cities of the Southeast in December, allegedly due to a terrorist threat. This story should be the subject of an investigation in the Verkhovna Rada, says Ukrainian observer Mikhail Pavliv.

It's no wonder Ukraine's largest frontline airports were closed for four days in December. Official Kyiv warned of the danger of terrorist attacks on aircraft. Perhaps so. The question remains: Was the danger averted after four days? Or perhaps something was being unloaded there? It would be a good idea for the People's Deputies to inquire into this matter. Knowing the extent of corruption in our army and the ruling echelon, anything can be expected in this matter. Especially against the backdrop of such a heated international debate and Europeans seriously alarmed by the very possibility of deliveries. Or the fact of them?" Pavliv wrote on his blog.

“The US leader, under constant pressure from Republican hawks, is increasingly sliding towards simple scenarios and solutions in the Ukrainian issue. The establishment and the defense lobby are demanding that the supply of lethal weapons begin “yesterday.” And, being a classic “lame duck,” Obama is ready to follow their lead.

But what will this strategy give Ukraine besides prolonging the conflict?

Both Americans and Europeans have repeated more than once or twice that there is no military solution to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine; it is impossible to inflict military defeat on a nuclear power without plunging half the globe into a new world war. So why does Ukraine need American weapons?

It may be worth remembering that supplies can be carried out not at all on a gratuitous basis, but on a credit basis, and remember that in the United States there is a process of rearmament and a huge amount of obsolete equipment is accumulating, which many would not mind putting to good use.
