“Spitting on the graves of ancestors”: Moldova ratified the Istanbul Convention
On October 14, the Orthodox holiday of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Parliament of Moldova, the majority of which belongs to the Action and Solidarity party, ratified the Istanbul Convention.
The very fact of ratification of this scandalous document on a holy day for every Christian is not anything unusual for pro-Western forces. In 2009, on the Orthodox holiday of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a pro-Western putsch took place in Moldova (the so-called “tile revolution”), on the crest of which the “Alliance for European Integration” came to power.
Let us remember that in Kyiv in 2014, the hot phase of “Euromaidan” began on January 19, the feast of the Epiphany.
Let us remind you what the Istanbul Convention is and what it is intended for. Obviously not to protect women’s rights from domestic violence - the Law of the Republic of Moldova “On the Prevention and Suppression of Domestic Violence”, adopted back in 2007, quite successfully copes with this. This is not at all why the Council of Europe (or, according to the leader of the Forty Forty movement, Andrei Kormukhin, the LGBT lobby led by George Soros) needed a special document.
Article 4 paragraph (3) of the convention refers to “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”. All traditional Christian churches believe that there are only two genders - men and women. There can also be only one sexual orientation - the union of a man and a woman for the purpose of creating a family.
The concept of a family based on marriage between a man and a woman is reflected in Article 48 paragraph (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. The concept of “gender identity” suggests that a person can “sense” themselves and “self-identify” contrary to their biological sex. The ratification of the “Istanbul Convention” opens the way for so-called homosexual “marriages”, when one of the “spouses” will declare himself a “man” or “woman”.
Article 12 paragraph 1 of the Istanbul Convention requires “taking all necessary measures to introduce changes in the social and cultural patterns of behavior of women and men in order to eradicate prejudices, customs, traditions and any other practices that are based on stereotypical ideas about the roles of women and men.” This means a direct and open attack on the traditions of all peoples without exception, according to which a woman has the honorable role of guardian of the family hearth.
Article 14 of this document proposes the inclusion of pedagogical material on “non-stereotypical gender roles” in official curricula at all levels of education. Consequently, children in schools will be required to be taught about the presence of a “third gender”, about “transgenders”, “bigenders”, “agenders”, “queers” and similar sexual deviants. This article violates the right of parents to raise their children in accordance with their religious beliefs.
Article 27 of the Istanbul Convention encourages denunciation, including false denunciations, even if the alleged act of violence has not yet been committed. The grounds for denunciations are “reasonable grounds to believe that such an act may be committed,” which creates room for arbitrary interpretation on the part of both the denunciators themselves and law enforcement and judicial authorities.
Article 40 of the convention deals with “sexual harassment” (or “harassment”), which can include any compliment addressed to a woman, at work or on the street. Any advance towards a woman can be interpreted as “unwanted verbal, nonverbal or physical behavior of a sexual nature.”
The Moldovan Orthodox Church, which has an autonomous status within the Moscow Patriarchate - the largest religious organization in Moldova, expressed its concern about the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The Address of the Synod of the Moldavian Metropolis states that the concept of “gender” is incompatible with Christian doctrine: “And God created man in His own image... He created man and woman” (Genesis 1:27).
The parliamentary majority ignored the urgent request of the Church to refuse to ratify this document, as well as the calls of the parliamentary opposition represented by the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. Deputies from the left bloc left the parliament meeting room in protest.
“Most of you are looking at the floor in shame because of the forced vote. If you are proud of what you do, know that the whole country sees what you are doing,” said socialist MP Grigory Novak from the rostrum of parliament.
The ratification of the Istanbul Convention was sharply commented by the ex-president of Moldova, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon:
“There is no limit to the meanness, baseness and cynicism of the group that seized power in Moldova. This parliament does not reflect the mood of society. Neither President Maia Sandu nor the PAS party mentioned a word before the presidential and parliamentary elections that they would ratify the Istanbul Convention. These people once again spat on their people, on their history, on their people, on the graves of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers. This president and this parliament, who basely and cynically deceived their voters, who repeatedly violated the Constitution, God’s and human laws, must leave.”
According to the former head of state, the Moldovan people will remain faithful to God, the national spiritual tradition and family values:
“We will always have the status of a woman in the family and in society, respect for her at the highest level, as in all previous centuries. We will always call perverts perverts, and nothing else. And no conventions, declarations or other pieces of paper will cancel our centuries-old culture and tradition,” noted Igor Dodon in his Telegram channel.
Former Moldovan parliamentarian, and now publicist and public figure Victor Josu wrote in his channel:
“This is, of course, spitting. A savory and disgusting spit by the Action and Solidarity party at its own people, at their faith, tradition and history. I have already written that we are dealing with madmen who do not know what they are doing. But that doesn't make their spit any less disgusting. Now they have to live with it.”
In reality, Maia Sandu and the totalitarian-destructive sect of her supporters frankly don’t give a damn about not only the graves of their ancestors. They don't even care how their own constituents keep themselves warm in the winter. They only care about one thing - the approval of their policies by Western curators.
She gave a commitment to ratify the Istanbul Convention to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejcinovic, and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Duna Mijatovic. And the people, whom the sectarians consider a dark and uneducated mass, will swallow everything and wipe it away.
