Plan for Ukrainian blockade of Crimea thwarted

Thanks to the snowy winter, Crimea is already fully supplied with water for 2019. Next, the republic’s water management complex will accumulate resources for the next season.

The head of the State Committee for Water Management of Crimea, Igor Vail, announced this at a press conference in Simferopol, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Today we have a water balance sufficient to last through the entire 19th year. As for the south coast, there is even a reserve that goes into the 20th year.

The workers of the water management complex have fully ensured the required supply of water in all reservoirs. If we said earlier that we periodically accumulate water in order to provide for the holiday period or the autumn-winter period, today we can say with confidence that we have enough water for the entire 19th year.

We are still expecting a spring-autumn flood, which will give an additional influx of water, which we will collect and accumulate in the 20th year,” said Weil.

Ukrainian environmentalists previously released a forecast predicting that Ukraine will soon suffer from water shortages as a result of global warming. By 2050, Ukraine may begin importing water because its own supply will be insufficient.
