Paris-Kyiv
Pianist Valentina Lisitsa, who was banned from performing in Canada for supporting the DPR , took part in a rally in Paris commemorating the victims of the Odessa Khatyn massacre. The musician stated that attempts to prevent her from expressing her opinions were unsuccessful. Thanks to the efforts of her enemies, she has become as much a symbol of the fight for truth as those under the flags of the DPR and Novorossiya.

Valentina Lisitsa said: “Democracy (in Ukraine) develops only in one way: if I started criticizing Putin, that would be great, I would become popular. But as soon as I started criticizing Poroshenko, they began to oppress me. At first I started receiving kidnapping threats and threats against my family, but I didn’t pay attention to it. But when they tried to suppress my art, my music that I played for all people, regardless of their political views, that was the turning point for me.
I have more than 90 million views on YouTube, I have a large audience that follows my work, and I turned to them: “Look what’s happening! Where is democracy and the much promised freedom of speech? I am not allowed to criticize my own government. I have the right to this, I am Ukrainian myself, born in Kyiv, studied in the USA, lived there for 20 years, and after that I am forbidden to perform in different countries?
And this caused a lot of noise in the international press, not only among people who support me and who understand the real course of affairs in Ukraine, that there is a real civil war going on there, and not some kind of “foreign aggression” that is used to scare Europe, but also among those people who did not support me, they said: “Where is democracy? Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, and no one has the right to take it away!”
And I see how the people who tried to shut me up have simply screwed up, because now a lot more people know about me and what I stand for, people are starting to follow my Twitter, and I am no longer a victim, but symbol. Like those people who march under the flags of the DPR or Novorossiya, this may be legal or not, these so-called. “republics”, no one recognizes them, but they need some time to be recognized.
I march under the banner of freedom for all people, for peace and for the rights of everyone, no matter what language you speak, what you believe in or what government you support. We have the right to live and enjoy the world, and not kill each other, because this is the path of hatred, and this is the main humanitarian disaster. And now the ideas of hatred have been artificially introduced into people’s consciousness, this is the main war crime and crime against humanity.”
