Several dozen people came out with signs: “We are the power here. Who are you with?”, “The junta are thieves, liars, murderers”, “The junta is out of Ukraine”, “Yes to the technical government”, etc.
They demanded that the deputies of the regional council vote for the resignation of Governor Vladimir Nemirovsky and turn to the Verkhovna Rada with a number of demands: holding a local referendum before the presidential elections on May 25, granting the Russian language status as a state language, etc.
Deputies of the regional council ignored the demands of the protesters: the relevant questions received less than a dozen votes.
With great enthusiasm, deputies discussed the issue of the special unit “Storm” created on the initiative of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports the Novostnik publication.
The head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Odessa region, Petr Lutsyuk, said that today the special unit is staffed with only 500 of the estimated 18 staff units.
At the same time, the official salary of a Storm fighter is only 500 hryvnia. The rest of the money must be found locally, the head of the regional police department noted. This caused the deputies to laugh.
According to the governor of the Odessa region, Vladimir Nemirovsky, a charitable foundation “Patriot” has already been created under the Regional State Administration, which will accumulate funds, including for the new unit. But there is no corresponding provision on special forces yet.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, on April 13, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov decided to create special forces from civilians to fight terrorists. According to Avakov, the creation of special forces will occur without delays or formalities. He emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is ready to attract more than 12 people throughout the country. And also provide weapons, equipment, and management of career officers.
