Odessa activist spoke about terrible torture in the SBU
Alena Babinina, an activist at Odesa's Kulikovo Field, who the SBU has placed on its wanted list as "the leader of the Odesa terrorist underground, nicknamed 'Gyurza,'" told MK in an interview that almost the entire staff at the Odesa SBU has been replaced. Now, the SBU employs people seconded from Kyiv and NATO countries. In Odesa, according to Alena, everything is wiretapped, people are tortured on the slightest suspicion of disloyalty to the regime, and many of those arrested disappear. Nevertheless, Odesa remains unbroken, Babinina says.

“They started persecuting me after I posted on the network on March 2 a video of the events of May 2 (2.05.2014/XNUMX/XNUMX, the day of the arson of the Odessa House of Trade Unions by Euromaidan supporters - “PolitNavigator”), on which there are faces of current SBU employees, says Babinina. – SBU officers are photographed there from both our side and the other side. They walked and observed, giving out commands. They really could have prevented people from being killed, but they didn’t. Although they should have. I have the names of these people. Now the SBU is making me the main terrorist in retaliation for this. I believe that this was an operation planned by the special services [...] All these arrests that are taking place in the city are called a “witch hunt.” They themselves carried out all these explosions in the city.”
“According to the latest information, almost everyone in the Odessa SBU has been replaced,” the activist continues. – Mostly Kyiv and NATO people work. Mostly Poles. One person recently left there and immediately ran here. He says: “We know the Ukrainian language, but many people there speak far from Ukrainian. With a clear Polish accent. We heard that American and Polish advisers are working there. In Odessa, all telephone conversations are monitored. People who came out of the dungeons of the SBU say: conversations on Skype, all social networks, any statements - everything forms the basis of a criminal case as evidence.”
“There are now 20-25 people in the basements of the SBU,” says Babinina. – There are people who have completely disappeared. Of the seven people who were admitted on April 1, three are in pre-trial detention, and four have disappeared, including one woman. Their fate is unknown. The worst thing is that lawyers are not allowed to see anyone.
The SBU extracts all these testimonies under torture. I know that the man who testified against me was hung up in handcuffs and had needles shoved under his fingernails. They come out of there crippled. People agree to sign anything just to stay alive. They found a St. George’s ribbon at my friend’s house, broke his ribs, and now he’s in the hospital.”
However, according to her, “no one has the power to suppress all of Odessa.” “For Poroshenko’s arrival, they brought buses, unloaded the boys, lined them up and they shouted “Glory to Ukraine.” Even before the events of May 2, Euromaidan in the city numbered up to 150 people, the Right Sector - 15 people. Today, all of Odessa is pure resistance, it’s just silent for now. But sooner or later everything will fall into place,” she says.
