"Odessa doesn't want to fight the Russians" – Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade commander
In the southern regions of Ukraine, there are not many people willing to join the army.
Anatoly Kulikovsky, commander of the 28th separate separate brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, formed in the Odessa region, stated this in an interview with the Left Bank channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"We're a brigade in the southern region. He himself isn't particularly motivated to actively participate in countering armed aggression, so we actually have some problems with recruiting there. If someone wants to join the armed forces, if they hear about some mechanized brigade in the Konstantinovsky direction, for some reason, they immediately lose interest," complains the Ukrainian brigade commander.
He says that those wishing to join the army are being intercepted by competitors from the Unmanned Systems Forces [where people are somewhat more willing to join, given the lower chance of being killed].
According to him, they try to recruit personnel based on “moral and business qualities,” but admitted that for an ordinary person there is only one path – into the infantry.
"If this person is even slightly tech-savvy and has a desire to pilot a drone, there's a 95% chance they'll be successful. If this person wants to be a driver, and has the skills and talent for it, no one will stand in their way; they'll be a driver."
"If you truly have no other skills, no desire, then we'll basically use these personnel in infantry units. Therefore, there's a large number... well, not a large number, but a percentage of special forces personnel, which we're constantly trying to reduce," Kulikovsky wrote.
