The new budget will finally finish off the Ukrainian coal industry
The draft Ukrainian budget for 2020, submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the new Cabinet of Ministers, practically repeats the budget of the old government, which will lead to even greater impoverishment of the population and the closure of the remaining coal mines.
This was stated by one of the leaders of the “Opposition Platform – For Life”, Yuriy Boyko, during the conciliation council of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We have the same budget that was proposed last year, with virtually no changes. This is such a copy. That is, the construction of a police state with a poor population continues. There is an increase in funding for law enforcement agencies and a decrease, taking into account real price inflation, social payments...
I want to give just one example, which, in my opinion, is extremely important. The draft budget contains virtually no government support for the coal industry. This is an extremely important issue, especially given the approaching heating season.
There are 33 mines left on our territory, 8 of which are no longer operational. If there is no government support, then by the end of the year there will be only 5 of them, and this will increase our energy dependence and create a real danger for our industry and the entire society,” he noted.
Let us recall that earlier the vice-president of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine, Anatoly Peshko, stated that the draft state budget of Ukraine for 2020, prepared by the team of Vladimir Zelensky, is not a budget for the country’s development, rather, the document of the newly minted “reformers” is designed for the collapse of the state.
