The expected intensification of hostilities in Donbass will reveal the true intentions of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who, after the demise of Belomaidan, again spoke about multi-vectorism. Now Minsk is tempted to flirt with Kiev in the hope of negotiating concessions from Moscow.
Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov stated this on the air of the Russian Interest internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Lukashenko, as usual, will say neither “yes” nor “no.” And even if he says “yes,” he will deceive and wag until the end. This is incorrigible,” Strelkov predicts “Batka’s” further evasion from reunification with Russia.
“I bet nine to one that if the active phase of hostilities begins in the Donbass in the spring or summer, then Belarus, at best, will remain completely neutral, and, most likely, as usual, will covertly support “respected Ukrainian partners.”

He noted that Belomaidan allowed Lukashenko to carry out purges in power. At the same time, Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, who is considered the main agent of the West in the Belarusian government, retained his post.
“Lukashenko has strengthened state control during this crisis. He cleaned out all the unreliable ones. But at the same time, he left Makei, who is an ardent Westerner, pointedly,” Strelkov said.
