A new disaster comparable to Chernobyl threatens Kyiv
In Kyiv, a catastrophe comparable to Chernobyl is possible - a large-scale sewage discharge will pollute the entire Dnieper, from where 2/3 of the population of Ukraine receives drinking water.
The director of the analytical and research center “City Institute”, Alexander Sergienko, warned about this at a press conference.

According to him, the main sewerage collector of Kyiv was declared unsafe back in 2006, but officials are being negligent.
“There is a duplicate thread that is 95% ready. But to launch it, certain cash injections are needed. Mayors have not addressed this issue for almost 10 years.
If the main collector collapses, it will be an environmental disaster comparable to Chernobyl. It is impossible to disconnect the city from water, it is impossible to bring tanks for 3 million people, it is impossible to deliver water. A huge discharge of fecal matter into the Dnieper, from where 2/3 of the population of Ukraine drinks, is possible,” Sergienko said.
