"No! “Under no circumstances”: Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine on water supply to Crimea
In Kyiv, they believe that neither legislative nor moral aspects allow renewing water supplies to Crimea.
Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of “Reintegration of Occupied Territories” Irina Vereshchuk stated this during a press conference at the Kalanchak checkpoint, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Are there any intentions to release water to Crimea,” the journalist asked.
"No! – Vereshchuk answered categorically. “This is prohibited by law, it is prohibited by all possible regulatory acts, it is impossible.”
“We are only saying that if public money was invested [in the dam on the North Crimean Canal], and it was invested, 90% has already actually been built, then we must complete it. And those services that are supposed to hold the dams must do it effectively, that’s all. In no case is there any question of water supply. This is impossible, neither legally, nor civilly, nor morally,” the minister added.
As a reminder, immediately after her appointment, Vereshchuk stated that the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the "Steinmeier formula" could be postponed indefinitely.
