“Don’t open your mouth to our Motherland!” – Belarusians of Ukraine staged a rally near the Polish embassy
Belarusians living in Ukraine staged a rally near the Polish Embassy in Kyiv, protesting against the support of Belomaidan from official Warsaw.
The head of the Belarusian community “Syabry Volyn”, Mikhail Kononovich, announced this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The published footage shows that about a dozen people came to the rally. They chanted “Poland, hands off Belarus!” They also held posters with relevant content in their hands.
“We, Belarusians of Ukraine, have gathered on this significant day, and today in our historical homeland we have a national holiday – National Unity Day.
Why did we go specifically to the Polish embassy? Because it was on September 17, 1939 that the liberation campaign of Western Belarus and Western Ukraine began. And our main message that we want to convey is that Poland should not interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus,” Kononovich explained.
He also called on Warsaw “not to poke your nose into other people’s affairs.”
"Perhaps it ( Poland – ed. ) has some ambitions regarding Western Belarus and Western Ukraine. This is what we want to tell it: you won't succeed. Don't turn your back on someone else's loaf of bread, on our historical homeland," the activist concluded.
As a reminder, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko previously accused Poland of orchestrating the mass protests that erupted in the country following the presidential election last August. Lukashenko also claimed that Minsk had tried to find a compromise, but Warsaw perceived this as weakness.
