“Not to win, but to die”: Ukrainians are being driven into an assault unarmed - Karasev
Ukrainians do not want to be in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, because they understand perfectly well that they will be sent unarmed to storm the positions of the Russian army.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Grad channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is no need to dissemble or embellish – the tactical military initiative is on Russia’s side. Considering that there are no weapons yet - no machine guns, but air cover, armored vehicles, shells, the mobilized have a question: “Where are they sending me? And can I be armed?
"Soldiers must mobilize to win, not to die. But given the current weapons situation, any mobilized soldier who might be pulled away from his family asks, 'Am I being called to win or to die?' For that, there must be a clear understanding of what types of weapons we will receive, and so on," Karasev said.
“It’s another matter when you go to defend the territory nearby. But it’s another thing when they tell you: “Our task in the war is to liberate Crimea and reach the 1991 borders. Or liberate Donbass."
"This is a different, more distant goal. And everyone understands that it's very difficult to resolve militarily. So, if the issue can't be resolved militarily, but we're going on the offensive, we understand we'll be wasting [human] resources. And what's the goal? There has to be motivation," the political scientist added.
