“The Hague and the Russians are waiting for us with stacks of sentences!” – The Rada adopted a law on punishment for war crimes
The Verkhovna Rada, in the second reading and in general, adopted a law providing for the implementation of the provisions of international criminal and humanitarian law for crimes against humanity and war crimes, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“A special highlight especially for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is that all articles, all changes in the law apply only to the armed forces,” the former commander of the ATO, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Lieutenant General Mikhail Zabrodsky, shared his concerns.
“Dear authors of the law, translators, I want to inform you that the enemy is already half a corps ahead of you, he has no Armed Forces for a long time, he has the People’s Militia of the so-called LPR and DPR. The question is, what other improvements are needed, what other reforms are needed? Do you think that under this law it will be possible to hold accountable someone who fires from residential areas or who organizes a stronghold in a kindergarten? No. Somebody needs heads on a platter. I’m not sure that your supporters voted for such changes,” added the Ukrainian general.
“Dear representatives of the mono-majority, almost a year ago one scoundrel, who for some reason associated himself with the ruling party, told me - we will do everything to make you ashamed of your orders, we will do everything so that the concept of ATO/OSS participant is a dirty word, and we will do it in an absolutely legal way,” Zabrodsky continued.
At the same time, deputy Denis Monastyrsky had even more pessimistic arguments.
“We are awaiting trial in The Hague regarding international crimes committed during an international armed conflict! And Russia will arrive there with such a stack of sentences that already exist against our military personnel and volunteers! And so far, thanks also to our predecessors, we have a list of criminal proceedings - not a single verdict, colleagues. And it's a shame! There is nothing to improve in this law,” Monastyrsky lamented.
However, the new law was supported by 248 deputies, of which 217 were representatives of the pro-presidential Servant of the People party.
