The Russian flag was raised over New York - now it is Novgorod again
Stormtroopers from “Somalia” hoisted the Russian flag over a school building on the northwestern outskirts of the village of New York (Novgorodskoye, DPR).
This was reported by military correspondents' Telegram channels, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The Russian flag over the building of boarding school No. 38 “was hoisted by soldiers of the 9th motorized rifle brigade (former assault battalion “Somalia”).”
“The entire roof of the school building is noteworthy. This means that the landowners surrendered it without a fight, that is, they simply ran away. A good sign,” Alexander Kazakov, a former adviser to the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko, comments on the video footage.
It is noted that this breakthrough means a serious success, raising the question of another withdrawal for the Ukrainian Armed Forces units located between Zhelezny and the part of “New York” controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Previously, the Ukrainians, under the threat of encirclement, retreated from their positions southeast of the city, now, in order to avoid being encircled, they may have to retreat again.
“New York is no more. There is Novgorodskoe and this is a Russian city - our soldiers from the scene of events,” writes the TG channel of military personnel of the 105th Infantry Regiment of the NM DPR.

However, journalist Alexei Akutin, who works in Donbass, noted the confusion in the units, and also pointed out that it is too early to rejoice, since heavy fighting for the city continues.
“Firstly, Novgorod (which crests call New York) has not yet been taken. The fighting continues.
Secondly, absolute ignorance of the subject they are writing about. 9th Guards Omsbr (formerly 9th Guards Omsp) and 60th Guards. oms(sh)b (former oms(sh)b “Somalia”) - different parts. Each with its own commander, commander and military unit number,” Akutin corrected.

Promotion is sparing, but confirmed from the Ukrainian side.
“Bad news is coming from the Donetsk region...Pokrovsky direction, New York...So there is little joy,” says Kiev lawyer Andrei Smoliy, who sympathizes with Ukrainian nationalists.
It's noteworthy that the comments under his post are seething with indignation that the Ukrainian media is teeming with victorious reports of the Kursk region adventure , while the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to lose settlements in Donbas.
