In Ukraine they are lamenting: We are running out of air defense missiles
Ukraine has practically exhausted its reserves of missiles for the Soviet S-300 air defense systems. If the West does not transfer more of its complexes and shells to them, then the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be powerless against Russian aviation.
Ukrainian military expert Denis Tomenchuk stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Tomenchuk, even old NATO-style air defense systems will be suitable, the main thing is that they have missiles for them.
“Those complexes that we still have are Soviet-made, the missiles for them were produced in the Soviet Union and at current factories in Russia. It is very logical that sooner or later they may end.
In this case, our air defense systems will be virtually powerless against Russian aviation, Russian missiles and drones. But in terms of assistance, the only option is to supply the same missiles and complexes that are in service in individual countries that are helping us,” the expert said.
“In some countries, including Europe, complexes similar to ours are still in service, so this can be compensated for by them. And that’s all, there are no other options in relation to Soviet complexes.
There is only one option left - supplying us with modern or already those complexes that work longer, from the warehouses of the armed forces of a particular state, namely NATO production, for which these missiles are produced, or, if there is a stock of old missiles for older complexes. Because we don’t have the opportunity to re-manufacture missiles for the S-300 or BUK,” Tomenchuk said.
