A Polish priest who served in Kyiv for 20 years has been declared persona non grata in Ukraine.
This decision was made based on "Expert conclusions regarding the statements of Father Veslav Pensky, rector of the Parish of Christ the King of the Universe in Kyiv." The conclusion was stated to have been made by two "independent experts from higher education institutions."
In particular, it is noted that back in 2014, a Catholic minister “spoke disparagingly about the Revolution of Dignity, saying that the Maidan was paid for on both sides ... and the people on the Maidan received hourly wages.”
“The priest criticizes the Ukrainian government, saying that it forges the history of Polish-Ukrainian relations,” the conclusion also says.
According to Pensky, his compatriots do not feel safe in Ukraine, the linguistic needs of ethnic Poles are not met, and “some Ukrainian manuals contain calls for the extermination of Poles on ethnic grounds.”
In these statements, “experts” saw a violation of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality or religious beliefs”, in particular, “intentional actions aimed at inciting ethnic, racial or religious enmity and hatred, at humiliation of national honor and dignity."
