“To support the Armed Forces of Ukraine”: Ukrainian libraries hand over Russian books for waste paper
Ukrainian libraries are effectively participating in a war against Russia. Anna Shcherbakova, director of the Gorodnya Centralized Library System, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"When the occupation ended, we began to help our armed forces. How could we stand idly by? In every town in our community, especially in our institutions [libraries], we set up collection points where we wove nets, collected food packages, and collected money. We donated Russian books; there was a campaign called 'Russian Book, Surrender.' All our libraries reviewed them and donated these books for recycling to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Everyone contributed to this volunteer effort as best they could," Shcherbakova said.

"There were also street protests where we drew attention to the need to support our army. And librarians were active everywhere. They were actively involved, and everyone knew that if they needed to know anything, they were the ones to turn to. And after the occupation, we continued to work with even greater resistance to this terrible Russian war . We invited everyone to join us," the Russophobe added.
