In the Lviv region, the Year of the Pig was declared the “Year of Bandera”
In the Lviv region, 2019 was proclaimed the year of the leader of the anti-Semitic and collaborationist organization OUN Stepan Bandera, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This decision was made on December 11 by a session of the regional council, according to the website of the Lviv regional council.
“On the occasion of the 2019 celebration of the 110th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding political figure, leader and chairman of the OUN(b) Provod, political prisoner of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, the regional council proclaimed next year in the Lviv region as the Year of Stepan Bandera. Consequently, the Department of Internal and Information Policy and the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Regional State Administration must develop and coordinate with the relevant standing commission of the regional council an action plan for celebrating the Year of Stepan Bandera,” the decision says.
The deputies also supported the decision to proclaim 2019 the Year of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which collaborated with Nazi Germany, in order to “properly celebrate” the 90th anniversary of the First Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists.
