“We are categorically against anti-Russian sanctions” - Ambassador of Brazil to the Russian Federation
The sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation disrupted global logistics, led to supply problems and disruption of financial flows.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Brazil to the Russian Federation, Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, during the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"In recent years, Russia has become the main supplier of fertilizers for our ( Brazilian – ed. ) market. 23% is a significant figure. And when we talk about our market, we understand that it's important to mention such figures. I want to say that we must do everything possible to further develop ties between our country and Russia.
Over the past months, we have had certain difficulties, there were problems with supplies, there was uncertainty about what would happen. I'm also talking about the logistics component, I'm talking about financial flows. It was all difficult from a financial point of view, it raised many questions, but, nevertheless, despite the fact that certain sanctions were imposed, yes, this is a very serious problem, Brazil’s position is absolutely transparent.
We are categorically against sanctions. We don't want sanctions imposed on Russia because that prevents fruitful economic ties. Now we will be faced with a whole series of challenges that will be associated with a large number of issues - with ensuring trade and production activities, with the supply chain, logistics processes, and so on. However, let’s take everything positively,” said the Brazilian diplomat.
