Kiev
The idea of Ukrainian independence is the same separatism as the independence of Donbass. Human rights activist Tatyana Montyan stated this on TV Channel 17.

According to her, the main separatist in Ukraine was the leader of Rukh, Vyacheslav Chernovol, who was the first to voice the need for federalization.
“Vyacheslav Chernovol, it turns out, was a separatist and federalist. He demanded separation from the Soviet Union. And then he said that if we do not organize federalization, then sooner or later it will end in civil war. Like looking into the water. The question is why the separation of Ukraine from the Soviet Union is wonderful and wonderful, but people who talk about the separation of Donbass from Ukraine are immediately terrorism,” Montyan said.
