“Moldova is an aggressor”: Transnistria went to a gigantic protest rally
More than 50 thousand Pridnestrovians came out today to a rally in the center of Tiraspol against the discriminatory policy of Moldova, which introduced customs duties on goods imported by enterprises from the PMR. This will inevitably cause rising prices and a falling standard of living in the unrecognized republic.
People marched along the main street. They carried posters in Russian, Moldavian and Ukrainian (the official languages of Transnistria).

“Moldova, stop robbing the people of Transnistria!”, “No to the blockade!”, “Freedom for Transnistrian entrepreneurship!”, “Moldova is an aggressor,” “This is a robbery of the people, not the path to Europe,” read the inscriptions on the posters.

The current leadership of the PMR and the first president of Transnistria, Igor Smirnov, took part in the rally.

Representatives of trade unions and the Union of Moldovans of Transnistria spoke.

“Moldova will not use the money taken from Pridnestrovians for the development of Pridnestrovie, but will keep it for itself. We do not intend to be sponsors of the welfare of the residents of Moldova. We demand the abolition of duties and a return to the negotiating table,” says the resolution of the meeting.

The text of the resolution will be sent to the leadership of Moldova, the parties to the “5+2” format and international organizations.

Earlier, the Moldovan “reintegration bureau” called the introduction of customs duties “positive discrimination.” The head of the department, Oleg Serebryan, assured that the taxation would only affect goods from China and would amount to less than 10% of the total value of goods coming to Pridnestrovie.
At the same time, he announced the introduction of new taxes and fees in relation to Pridnestrovian business.
