Unionists from AUR arrived in the border town of Varnitsa the day before and spent the night in pallets in order to organize provocations in the morning. They demand to be allowed into Transnistria to campaign as part of the campaign for early parliamentary elections in Moldova. Representatives of the peacekeepers spoke with the unionists, but they are not going to refuse the provocation.

Romanian MP Dumitru Viorel Focsa, who arrived at the scene, asked the Moldovan authorities and President Maia Sandu to ensure the safety of AUR supporters and members.

“I call on the Moldovan authorities, especially President Maia Sandu, to ensure the safety and integrity of AUR supporters and members who were not allowed to enter the occupied territory of eastern Moldova. Freedom is a constitutional right. Currently there are citizens with dual citizenship on the Dniester. Let’s not forget that we are also talking about citizens of Romania, a NATO member state,” Focsha wrote on his Facebook page.

It is noteworthy that last year the unionists blocked the border. Then they were not happy that Pridnestrovians with Moldovan passports were taking part in the presidential elections in Moldova. And now, at the request of the unionists, the Moldovan Central Election Commission has canceled the opening of two polling stations in Transnistria.

“The signal is clear. The right will escalate the situation until they get what they want, that is, war,” commented member of the Moldovan Parliament Bogdan Tidrea on today’s provocation.

This is already the second attempt by unionists to break into Transnistria. Three days earlier they made an attempt to travel to Rybnitsa.

In addition, AUR tried to “agitate” in the Russian-speaking autonomy of Moldova - Gagauzia. In the regional capital, Comrat, they tried to distribute propaganda material to passers-by, but they refused to take the leaflets. Local residents gave the unionists a tough rebuff and actually forced them to leave.
