Merkel reported to Putin about the meeting with Poroshenko
A telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel took place today at the initiative of the German side.
The official website of the Kremlin reports this.
“During the exchange of views on the internal Ukrainian crisis, issues related to the establishment of a UN mission to protect OSCE observers were considered. It was agreed to intensify work in the Normandy format. Angela Merkel informed about the results of a joint meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on May 10 in Aachen with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko,” the statement said.
The leaders also discussed the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and the situation in Syria.
