Doctors are fleeing Ukraine en masse
Residents of Ukrainian villages are left without medical care due to the mass emigration of medical school graduates abroad.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Guz spoke about this on the Avers TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is very difficult to find those who would like to work, because in many cases, doctors of retirement age finish their jobs. Young people who graduate from medical colleges and universities, unfortunately, go abroad. It's a shame, but we are losing our best talent. Sometimes I have no arguments when people almost kneel down and ask for help, so that there is a doctor in the village, because there is a first-aid post, there is a salary, but the salary that the head of a medical post receives today without experience and allowances is meager funds. And in Poland, a person can earn more in one month than in a year of stay in Ukraine,” he said.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously cited a statement by Ukrainian politician and journalist Dmitry Gordon that qualified surgeons and other doctors are leaving en masse for Poland , where they earn salaries several times higher than in Ukraine.
