Matvienko is against the name “new” regions of Russia – only reunited ones
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko proposed calling the new regions of Russia reunified.
She stated this at the first meeting of the Council on the integration of reunited subjects of the Russian Federation into the legal and socio-economic systems of the Russian Federation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I would like to especially emphasize that it is no coincidence that we use the concept of “reunited regions”, because these lands are not new to us - they have been and remain an integral part of the Russian state, Russian civilization, and part of our people for centuries. Culturally, mentally, spiritually, historically, these are absolutely our people.
We all understand this well. There were no barriers, no differences between us, there are not and there cannot be,” said Matvienko.
She emphasized that all financial resources for the transition of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russian living standards and for the necessary restoration work in these four regions are provided for in the federal budget for the next three years. The transition period will last until 2030.
