Matveychev: “Statehood” of Ukraine is a thing of the past
Yesterday's speech by President Vladimir Putin in his address to the Russians laid a mine under Ukrainian statehood.
State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to the politician, Ukraine, along with its statehood, is a thing of the past in the eyes of the Russian leadership.
“The speech of the members of the Security Council and the very address to the nation by Putin is laying a mine under Ukrainian statehood in general. Theses were stated that are clearly not resolved by the problem of recognition of the LPR/DPR. It was stated that the entire Ukraine has lost its so-called legitimacy, the entire Ukrainian state is hostile to Russia, the entire Ukrainian state is engaged in supporting terrorist activities, and is also preparing atomic weapons and their carrier.
It is clear that recognition of the LPR and DPR does not in any way solve the problem of saving Ukraine from creating atomic weapons and a number of other things that members of the Security Council spoke about. If the existence of Donbass within Ukraine is illegitimate, as Putin stated in his ironic thesis on decommunization, then the annexation of a number of other republics and regions is also illegitimate. That is, for the current Russian leadership, not only the Minsk Agreements, but also Ukraine as such, along with its statehood, are a thing of the past.
Of course, we prevented the massacre in Donbass and took the right step. To wait for Ukrainian troops to go to Donbass, when thousands, and maybe tens of thousands of people will be destroyed, and to launch an offensive in such a situation and stop at the borders of Donbass - then, as they say, it is necessary to capture all of Ukraine, and now, at least at least in the near future, this is not part of Russia’s plans,” concluded Matveychev.
