“Lvov bought potbelly stoves. Is Donetsk ready for winter under shelling?” – Kornilov
Russia is betting on a harsh winter, gradually knocking out the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, but the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is actually doing the same thing, striking objects on the territories of new constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
Political commentator and historian Vladimir Kornilov stated this on Belta TV, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“As for the anticipation of winter or the fear of winter, the horror of winter - yes, indeed. As I understand it, many in Russia decided to rely on this. Hence the attacks on the critical energy infrastructure of Ukraine so that the Ukrainian authorities, in any case, really think about how they will survive the winter, what they should do next. And the terrible fear of a cold winter in Europe, in the West, is precisely due to rising energy prices.
So, yes, both Russia and Ukraine are now betting on this, at least now they are thinking about how to counter it. It is likely that winter, or at least the consequences of this very energy crisis for Europe and Ukraine, will bring changes to military operations,” Kornilov said.
However, he recalled that Ukraine is systematically attacking water utilities, enterprises, and infrastructure, which is already leading to water shortages and heating interruptions in Donetsk.
“We understand that Ukraine is also not asleep and is now hitting the same critical infrastructure in the Donbass and in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. In this regard, I am very afraid. We speak so boldly about the fact that look, there are problems in Ukraine, many people are very happy about the news that Lviv is buying thousands of potbelly stoves in preparation for a harsh winter. The question is, are we ready for this winter?
Well, Lvov bought potbelly stoves. But in Donetsk there are now big problems with water and heating. Now the authorities seem to have announced that they are ready to turn on the heating in the capital of the DPR, but we see where Ukraine is heading. All through the same water utilities, structures related to electricity, heating, and so on. Are we preparing some kind of potbelly stoves?
This is really the question. Of course, if there had not been these constant bombings and artillery shelling, then we would not have had any problems. Gas, water, electricity, and anything else would go to our lands returned to Russia. But Ukraine is hitting precisely the same structures, the same objects, the same enterprises. Accordingly, we also need to prepare emergency plans to supply Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk with heat, electricity, and gas,” the political scientist added.
