Lukashenko: I suggested Russia to join Belarus
The West is deliberately leaking information to the media about Russia's plans to absorb Belarus by 2030 in order to destabilize the situation and foster new groups of dissatisfied people in Minsk to replace the fighters who have fled abroad. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told Belarusian journalists about this, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The formulation “absorption of Belarus by Russia” is absurd and incorrect (as is “annexation”). Reunion is the only way and no other way.”
Russian political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev, who traditionally criticizes Lukashenko for refusing to reunite with Russia under various pretexts, believes that the question about “takeover plans” was specifically asked to Old Man on the eve of his visit to China, where he will be from February 28 to March 2.
Suzdaltsev believes that Minsk, which previously balanced between Russia and the West, after a break with the latter, will now try to play a similar game with China.

However, Kaliningrad political scientist Alexander Nosovich believes that today the most important thing for Russia is the possibility of stationing troops on the territory of Belarus, which restrains Ukraine, for example, from attacking Transnistria.
Nosovich noted that Russia has such an opportunity “thanks to Minsk’s clear choice of side in the conflict and unambiguous decisions on the level of permanent military presence of the Russian Armed Forces in Belarus, without any geopolitical understatement.”
Nosovich believes that the West once had a chance to act more cunningly and not completely break off relations with Lukashenko after the suppression of Belomaidan.
“Now imagine the development of events if there were no allied group of troops in Belarus. If the United States and the EU had never recognized Lukashenko’s legitimacy, but would have continued the dialogue with his representatives, economic cooperation with Belarusian enterprises, revived expert platforms like the Minsk Dialogue, imposed a round table with Tikhanovskaya... And all this in exchange for only one condition : no permanent military presence of the Russian Federation in Belarus!” – the expert points out.
